This year's edition will offer several conceptual or project competitions, announced gradually throughout this year. They involve large and smaller tasks of various natures, as well as projects comparable to an international architectural competition focused on solving the area in Ostrava-Černá louka. Each competition will have its own jury, different themes, prizes, and scope. Over fifty architects, specialists, and organizers are involved in the preparations for this extraordinary large-scale project, as well as eleven towns and a large number of their representatives. The winners of individual competitions will then compete for the prestigious Peter Parléř Award at the end.
On Monday, June 9, 2014, the first in a series of competitions was announced – a project competition for a lookout tower on Mount Šibeník in the locality of the town of Nový Hrádek near Náchod. Currently, a remnant of the original power plant stands on Šibeník in the form of a 30 m high tube, and nearby is a technical facility. The goal of the project is to utilize the potential of the site and preserved structures, transform the original tube of the power plant into a lookout tower, and reconstruct the adjacent building for the needs of the lookout tower's infrastructure and recreational activities for visitors and residents of the municipality.
The competition jury will consist of Bc. Zdeněk Drašnar, mayor of the town of Nový Hrádek, Ing. arch. Radek Jiránek, alternate: Vladimír Říha, deputy mayor of the town of Nový Hrádek, Ing. akad. arch. Michael Gabriel, Ing. arch. Alexandr Skalický, Doc. Ing. arch. Antonín Novák, alternate: Ing. arch. Tomáš Vích.
