Ústí nad Labem - Nineteen applicants have registered for the architectural competition for the conversion of the former high school in Ústí nad Labem into a regional transformation center. The winner will be chosen by an international jury in March next year. Based on the competition results, the Ústí Region will commission the preparation of project documentation. The estimated construction costs for the reconstruction are 350 million crowns excluding VAT. This information was provided by the regional spokesperson Magdalena Fraňková.
The transformation center will be created from the former high school on Stará Street in the Northern Terrace district. It will provide data services for the region, prepare transformation projects for landscape revitalization, energy, and innovation. The region plans to cover the project costs from the European program Just Transformation.
The architectural competition is in two rounds. In the first round, applicants will become familiar with the site of the future project. There will be several rounds of voting until a clear agreement is reached on five proposals that will proceed to the second round. The authors of these five proposals will receive a so-called sketch fee. The jury will meet again in March next year, when it will select the winner and award three proposals in the competition.
The expected completion date for the design work and issuance of the final building permit will be within 24 months from the start. The region anticipates the procurement procedure for construction work in the summer of 2025.
