Introduction
The Irish are celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of one of their most significant poets. As part of year-long celebrations, an international competition titled “...of Clay and Wattles Made” was organized for architects and artists with the goal of creating a temporary installation on the lake island of Innisfree, inspired by the eponymous poem by William Butler Yeats from 1892. The installation serves as a symbolic gift for his anniversary and aims to be the center of attention during a summer full of celebrations.

Concept
From the very beginning, the entire task exudes a strong impression of untouchability. You feel the incredible power of nature, whose form changes every ten minutes. The sun engages in an endless chase with the clouds in the sky, and the heavens certainly do not spare any water. The rapidly changing weather and the surrounding landscape are absolutely fascinating. It seems to want to draw you in and not let go; it has a hypnotic rhythm.
My intention became to work with the phenomenon of weather and the theme of intangibility, to which the unattainable beauty of nature directly leads. Light, sound, wind, various forms of water, all of these are elements that constantly surround us, shape our world, yet we can’t touch them. We cannot grasp them in our hands, except perhaps in a transferred, symbolic way.
Natural phenomena have always been accompanied by a sense of the supernatural, and although we have explained most of them through science, we are still inclined to attribute their origin to invisible forces. We wonder where they come from, what brings them to a certain place, and we invent various stories associated with them.
Fog.
The island is shrouded in a misty haze. It is not morning, it is not autumn, and yet it lies here - white, light, intangible fog. An eternal phenomenon. A typical occurrence at an atypical time.
With the monotonous sound of jets, a dynamic form is created, on which any change in the surrounding environment can be observed. Temperature, pressure, wind direction, relative humidity, measurable values on an immeasurable object. The mist spreading over the island shores evokes an inner need to find a specific boundary. An image. A memory.
The paradise marked by Yeats is hidden safely within the confines of one’s imagination.
Pier.
To be completely surrounded by the landscape, to be drawn into its depths. To make the experience even more powerful and the impression more impactful, a pier stretches out like the axis of a hand toward the horizon, somewhere into the indefinite, as long as the radius of a circle around the island.
From its end, a line curves along the shore, meant to enhance the perception of the place. The panorama is bordered by a sleeping giant, a trio of mountains above the lake, and beyond them lie several places associated with Yeats. Their direction is indicated by stakes beneath the edge of the pier, and so from the place of the desire of his heart, we look where it is stored.
