Turnov - Turnov must reissue competitions for the reconstruction of the former orphanage into a city hall. No company showed interest in the contract worth 45 million crowns. The mayor of the city, Tomáš Hocke (Independent Bloc), informed journalists about this.
According to him, there are two reasons. "I found out that some companies were unaware of it, even though they receive automatic notifications in their email. However, some delete them as spam. Those who knew are very busy and didn't want to get involved," the mayor stated.
For the city, the reconstruction of the orphanage is one of the priorities. Therefore, the mayor will send information about the contract to all larger companies in the region. Additionally, the deadline for the work will be extended by a month to make the contract more attractive for construction companies. "This means we will not start on July 1, as we wanted, but on August 1. And we will extend it until the end of October 2018," Hocke stated.
The mayor believes that the new competition will be successful. "When I asked larger companies in the area, they expressed interest in such work. And it was rather a combination of unfortunate circumstances that led to the fact that they overlooked the contract and did not apply," he added.
The reconstruction of the orphanage on Skálova Street will allow the consolidation of city officials into two buildings, as they are currently in four. The renovation of the historical building must be completed by the end of 2018, as the city has already sold another building on Skálova Street used by city officials. This house was acquired for further development by the museum, as it is located in its vicinity. The city has agreed that the officials will vacate by January 2019. The municipality expects that consolidating the officials will reduce operating costs and improve the management of the office.
