Český Brod - Český Brod in the Kolín region will announce an architectural competition at the beginning of November for the transformation of Arnošt z Pardubic Square and Husova Square. The city hall wants the two squares in the city’s heritage zone to offer more space for gatherings and events. Last week, the city council appointed a seven-member jury, and the results of the two-round competition should be known in the spring. CTK was informed of this today by Mayor Tomáš Klinecký (Lepší Brod).

"Let's finalize the competition assignment; the jury will meet for the first time next week, and the subsequent city council will then approve the announcement," Klinecký stated. According to him, the city will apply for a European grant from the Integrated Territorial Investment (ITI) program for the Prague metropolitan area, estimating costs around 100 to 120 million crowns.

The city leadership had been preparing the reconstruction of the squares earlier, but it did not proceed due to a lack of funding. Currently, a large part of the square is occupied by parked cars.

This year, the city acquired a listed bell tower from the church at Arnošt z Pardubic Square near the Church of St. Gothard. In the future, it intends to renovate it and create an internal staircase to provide access to the upper floor.
