Znojmo is associated by local residents and the general public primarily with valuable cultural monuments from the early Middle Ages to modern times, and its buildings from the recent past have thus far escaped well-deserved attention. However, modern architecture has also left indelible marks on the shape of the city. The exhibition, along with the publication, will therefore highlight the architectural transformations of Znojmo in its modern history.
The exhibition presents a selection of individual buildings and realizations through photographs, projects, and models. For the first time, the museum showcases restored furniture from the First Republic villa of Josef Mareš, a model of the first design for the hospital by architect Miroslav Spurný, and a model of the award-winning Winery Lahofer.
The exhibition also summarizes the urban development of the city over the last hundred years through zoning plans from 1871 to 2000, and through a comparative video of individual locations, it allows visitors to assess how the city has changed in recent history.
Znojmo, perceived as a historical city, is thus also presented as a vibrant and modern city.
The exhibition collaborated with the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery.
The exhibition takes place with financial support from the city of Znojmo and the South Moravian Region.
