The garden of the wine shop Red pif

The garden of the wine shop Red pif
A small triangular space approximately 13x5 meters at the corner of Betlémská and U Dobřenských streets, adjacent to the wall of the courtyard of the Náprstek Museum, was at the time, about a year ago, when we were finishing the interior of the Red Pif wine bar in the parterre of the opposite house, a forgotten and seemingly unusable place. A site for separated waste containers, full of disorder and reeking of urine.
This year, we designed an outdoor garden here – after obtaining the landowner's consent, it was enough to realize a symbolic enclosure of the space made from rough planks, creating a peaceful corner where one can sit under the canopies of tall maples in the city center. Our idea that works by young artists could be displayed at the entrance area was welcomed enthusiastically by the wine bar owner. After an agreement with the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery, we installed the sculpture "Sadrokarton story" by Jakub Jurášek here. Within two days, everything was completed and ready for use – essentially as a do-it-yourself project.

Further events aptly illustrate the discussion on the topic of public space in the city. Tourists are excited – they stop, have a drink, and take photos. Locals are petitioning for its removal – they nicknamed the sculpture "The Puking Horse." The authorities are not pleased. The owner no longer has the courage for the graphically rendered description of the adjacent wall featuring names of French wines, proposed by Pasta. A corner full of excrement did not bother anyone, but suddenly the garden bothers almost everyone... what is right?
