The rocky hill Bradlo, located on the western edge of the cadastral area of Nová Hradečná, has been an important local and regional tourist destination for more than a century. The summit of Bradlo (601 m above sea level) is a viewpoint with a panoramic overlook of the Haná region and the Low and High Jeseník. Furthermore, the whole rock formation is used for climbing sports.
The task was to design the surface treatment of the summit area and to repair the aging railing, with the aim of increasing the safety and comfort of visitors in this exposed location.
We proposed a steel grate at the summit, which intentionally does not cover the entire surface of the rock but is placed only over the most uneven part. It is installed below the level of the protruding rock segments and connects to the less rugged part of the rock from the access side. The hot-dip galvanized strip steel (originally intended to be stainless) is painted blue on the access side, giving the grate a "double face" - blue on one side and zinc gray on the other. Another aspect of the "double faces" is the views from the sides, where the grate appears flat, and the views from above, from where we can clearly see its load-bearing structure and the rock beneath it.
We had the existing horizontal elements of the railing replaced and supplemented, their shaping mimicking the original, which had been deformed into an organic shape by visitors over the years, and on the upper bar, we proposed directional indicators to replace the viewpoint rose.
Since in part of the access path, the stone-cut steps are deformed or completely missing, it was necessary to repair the path by adding individual steps.
