The project for the renovation of the recreational facility "Léto" in the village of Řevnice addresses the restoration of the buildings that were damaged by catastrophic floods in August 2002 to their original condition, particularly concerning their usability (capacity). However, the intention also includes improving the standard of accommodation and, last but not least, modifying and reinforcing the structural elements so that they can withstand possible comparable floods in the future.
Conceptually, ideologically, materially, and atmospherically, the repair proposal is inspired by the expression of the original structures of the former public river baths in the style of "whimsical summer" from the 1930s. These are small "picturesque" buildings, all single-story, set in mature greenery. Their delicate design is especially emphasized by the use of wooden cladding on the vast majority of facades (the original buildings were entirely wooden).
From the perspective of primary spatial organization, the area is divided into four buildings. This division originates from the historical arrangement of the given location. However, today each building has a similar functional purpose, which consists of independent residential units with social facilities. Two buildings also contain a common lounge area with a kitchenette.
Buildings SO3 and SO4 are adapted for the accommodation of physically disabled guests (wheelchair users). The facility "Léto" offers a total of 11 places for such individuals.
division into individual buildings:
SO1: Main building from around the 1930s, originally a restaurant. Wooden frame building, clad in wood. Part of the original serving area of the restaurant was completely destroyed, while the infrastructure is repairable.
SO2: Former changing rooms, previously converted into simple accommodation units. The building was completely destroyed.
SO3: Brick building from around the 1960s. A new roof was constructed for this building (the original was damaged by flood deposits). However, the structure of the walls and foundations remained intact. The internal layout and facades were modified.
SO4: Accommodation building from around the 1960s. Only the foundations were utilized for this building..
- the total accommodation capacity is 75 people in independent residential units with social facilities, each for 4 - 6 people, accessible directly from the outside - no hallways, no extra spaces - additionally, there are only two common rooms and tea kitchens
- the area is complemented by a multifunctional playground and a campfire site; however, the central attraction remains the Berounka River - canoeing, swimming, fishing, and two football fields are in close proximity
- the design considers the possibility of recreation for wheelchair users
- accommodation - tourist standard, i.e. bunk beds; a particular feature is the design of building SO2 - 10 units are designed to a higher standard, with the possibility of a double bed; additional sleeping (for children) is arranged on a wooden platform - a perch - under the raised wave roof
- the current user is the international organization Jeka from Belgium - a non-profit organization that organizes group stays for youth at bases across Europe
