Interior of an apartment in Prague

The interior design of the apartment originated in a newly reconstructed classicist villa. Despite the fact that the house was completely renovated at the time of realization and it was not necessary to use old technologies and structures of the building, it was naturally important to base the design on the spatial possibilities of the original villa.
The two-level apartment is located on the top floor of the building, and thus the interior utilized the construction of the attic as well as the possibility of creating rooftop terraces. The central space of the apartment is designed over two floors. The entrance hall, living area, kitchen with dining area, and the study located on the upper level are, in effect, one open unit. The floor area of the upper level only covers part of the footprint of the lower level, and the impression of a large, high space is also supported by its design, which gives the impression that the study is as if inserted between the surrounding walls.
The described central social space on the lower level of the apartment is followed by two separate “intimate” areas: the parents' bedroom and the children's rooms. Both areas are equipped with social facilities, and the parents have a wardrobe at their disposal. The strict separation of the social parts of the apartment from the intimate zones was one of the basic requirements that shaped the spatial concept.
Selected high-quality materials have their natural surfaces and designs, and the color schemes are deliberately chosen to be neutral, with white predominating. The design is intended to be timeless so that it can be combined with furniture that is “subject to current styles” over the years.
