Prague - The state enterprise Povodí Vltavy has announced an architectural competition for the design of a new operational center in Strakonice. The construction is scheduled to start in 2025, and the estimated costs are 85 million CZK excluding VAT. This information comes from a website overview of public contracts issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, and was reported by Povodí Vltavy spokesperson Hugo Roldán in a press release. He mentioned that this is the first time in history that the enterprise has announced an architectural competition.

The aim of the competition is to find a design for the entire complex, including the interior concept. The building is to be divided into an administrative part accessible to the public and a service part only for the enterprise's employees. The building is to serve 18 employees.

Povodí Vltavy places great emphasis on the use of alternative energy sources, such as photovoltaics and air recovery, in the project assignment. "We are an organization that follows a sustainable approach to environmental protection in our operations, increasingly focusing on the use of modern low-energy components, renewable resources, and reducing the carbon footprint, thus taking a responsible approach to the environment," said the general director of Povodí Vltavy, Petr Kubala.

Proposals for the competition can be submitted until April 5, and the expert jury is expected to select the winning design after Easter. The enterprise anticipates that it will sign a contract with the winner in the summer.

Povodí Vltavy manages nearly 22,000 kilometers of waterways over an area of 28,708 square kilometers. It administers 114 water reservoirs, takes care of 21 locks on the Vltava waterway, 354 weirs, and 21 small hydropower plants. The state enterprise's profit fell by more than 50 million to 24.3 million CZK two years ago. The company's revenue in 2021 amounted to 1.39 billion CZK, which did not change significantly compared to 2020.
