The Vltava River basin will begin construction of a center in Strakonice in 2025

Strakonice - The Vltava River Basin Authority wants to start building a new operational center in Strakonice in 2025. It expects costs of 85 million CZK without VAT. The building will be designed by Brno architects Kristýna Shromáždilová and Lukáš Fišer, who won the architectural competition. A total of 57 teams from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, France, Denmark, and Luxembourg applied for it. This was reported in a press release by the spokesperson of the state enterprise Vltava River Basin Authority, Hugo Roldán.

"The clear wish of the Vltava River Basin Authority was to set an example in environmental friendliness, the use of renewable resources, and water management. The operational area of the Vltava River Basin Authority in Strakonice should thus serve as a model for construction that respects local conditions, environmental protection, and sustainability, not just for the public sector," said the spokesperson. The jury appreciated the connection with the river in the winning design, which allows for views, as well as its good integration into the surroundings.

The Vltava River Basin Authority manages 21,900 kilometers of watercourses over an area of 28,708 square kilometers. It manages 115 water reservoirs, oversees 21 locks on the Vltava waterway, and cares for 354 weirs.

The state enterprise Vltava River Basin Authority almost quadrupled its profit last year to 96.7 million crowns. In 2021, the company had a profit of 24.3 million crowns, thus year-on-year it increased by 298 percent. Revenues rose by 13 percent to 1.57 billion crowns.
