The NOVUM shopping center in Prešov opened its doors to the public for the first time in the autumn of 2020. The walls of its underground parking garages are unusual at first glance – the investor did not want to plaster used Ytong and Silka blocks and demanded a delivery of visible masonry with minimal costs for further surface treatments. Thanks to the precision of the blocks and the professionals from the construction company GEMO Slovakia, the project was completed to the investor's absolute satisfaction.
The execution of the structures was continuously monitored and corrections were made to achieve the desired final appearance of the masonry. The masonry constructions are 90% just painted, while the rest have conventional plaster. The blocks Ytong and Silka are precise, easy and quick to work with, and any necessary corrections are also problem-free. Fast construction is facilitated by thin-layer bonding, and adjustments to the visible side of the wall are also straightforward. It can be easily sanded to achieve the desired appearance.
The underground garages are built with Ytong aerated concrete blocks, while Silka lime-sand blocks are used for the partition walls in the storage areas. The shopping center also features prefabricated lintels from Xella, which are compatible with Ytong and Silka blocks and are characterized by high load-bearing capacity and quick assembly. Ytong aerated concrete blocks also form the masonry of the local LIDL retail unit.
