Czech-Moravian Cement, a.s. recently launched a new product line of dry injection mixtures called ThermoCem, which are designed for deep drilling for ground-water heat pumps. The new addition to the company's range contributes to the quality installation of collectors in underground wells, while also improving the thermal performance of the wells.
The ThermoCem product line offers a range of advantages for implementing companies.

“When designing boreholes with underground collectors, it is necessary to monitor some specific parameters of the filling between the probe and the rock. The higher its thermal conductivity, for example, the better the heat transfer from the rock environment and the easier it is to heat the fluid circulating in the probe. The ThermoCem PLUS cement mixture contains a special blend of selected minerals that conduct heat well and can increase the thermal performance of the borehole by up to dozens of percent,”
comments the main benefit of the new product Ing. Ondřej Matějka, technical advisor of Českomoravský cement, a.s.

Quality installation of underground collectors has a significant impact on the performance of heat pumps.
The incorporation of the new product line into the company’s offer is a quick response to the growing demand from builders for low-energy housing. However, the ThermoCem product line brings a number of advantages for implementing companies as well. The advantages of cement mixtures are simple preparation and care for the machinery. By maintaining technological discipline, a perfect filling of the borehole can be easily achieved, which will be durable even under the demanding chemical and physical conditions prevailing underground. The filling material is waterproof and frost-resistant, and thanks to the substances contained, it can withstand aggressive underground waters. The combination of these
properties prevents the integrity of the filling from being compromised by unwanted cracks or cavities, or the gradual degradation of the thermal pump borehole. Contractors thus do not have to fear potential complaints, which, given the purchase price of this type of pump, could cause inconveniences for any company.

“The costs of acquiring a ground-water heat pump are not negligible items in the construction budget, and investors logically ask about the total lifespan of the system. Since underground collectors cannot be removed or repaired, the reliability of the borehole is one of the key areas that need to be focused on from the beginning. Thanks to the suspension from ThermoCem, the investment in the borehole is not jeopardized by a loss of its performance due to a weakening of thermal conductivity and the integrity of the filling,”
adds Ing. Ondřej Matějka in conclusion.
