<translatable>Solar roof doors for flat and sloped roofs</translatable>

Roof gardens, urban beekeeping, terraces, relaxation zones between roofs. The use of free and open space between roofs can take many forms. "I love such spaces; I feel good there. It is my work hobby to develop and produce glazed roof exits – thus we introduce the term 'roof doors' to the market. I sometimes joke that spaces opened in this way excite both romantics and developers. One group enjoys it, and the other profits," says Jakub Formánek from the management of the Czech manufacturer.

Comfortable roof doors represent a smart solution for accessing the terrace. At the same time, they are thermal insulation elements that illuminate and open the access route to the roof. You achieve a pleasant slope of the stairs and the desired width suitable for everyday use. "No ladders or near-ladders. We have actually developed a long-term solution for modern flat-roof houses as well as buildings with sloped tiled roofs. For gentlemen in hats and ladies in heels. After several years of development, we brought two types of products to the market – sliding and tilting roof doors from Solara," adds Jakub Formánek.

Czech production and consulting, German certification, excellent thermal insulation

A quality design is based on specific door profiling and its complete perimeter insulation, glued full-coverage glazing, as well as the connection system to the roof covering. "The resulting thermal calculation for the tilting roof doors is at the value of 0.96–0.98 W/m²K, depending on the size, which we consider excellent for this type of product," states Formánek.

Solara sliding roof doors can be opened manually or with the help of invisible electric openers. Tilting roof doors always have electric openers. The system of safety sensors and wind/rain sensors, along with a backup power supply, ensures automatic closing in case of rain or power outages.


"We address these options during personal meetings with architects, on construction inspection days, sometimes just by phone or email directly with the customer. The excellent thermal transmittance of the triple glazing of the roof doors addresses the winter season; it can also be supplemented with heat-reflective glass for hot summer days. The mentioned complete system of electric control can be connected to a smart home," describes Formánek how the consulting for the technologies used works.

The Solara sliding system is certified in Germany. "Obtaining the German certification IFT Rosenheim for sliding windows and doors was certainly a process of many papers, which few really enjoy, but the cooperation with the technicians and engineers from the Bavarian Window Institute was fair, I would say straightforward," adds the advisor from Solara. The new design implementation with full-coverage glazing, sharper profile contours, and several other elements has been certified.
