Modern straight lines and aesthetic purity are increasingly sought after in interiors, with the trend of minimalism naturally manifesting in the design of door spaces. One of the fundamental elements of minimalist architecture is doors with hidden frames, popular for their design sophistication and technical quality, as well as for their affordability.

The minimalist style itself originated in the 1940s - the original understanding of space by Mies van der Rohe has seamlessly influenced the creators of modern commercial projects as well as builders of family homes and apartments for eighty years. Clean lines, timeless elegance, and uninterrupted space - these are the building blocks of minimalism both then and now.

Hidden frames represent an optimal solution for door spaces - they allow the doors to be aligned in one plane with the wall and limit decorative elements. Functional elements (lock and hinges) are hidden, leaving only a thin gap between the wall and the door surface visible. The result is an aesthetically and functionally supreme solution that allows architects to bring their visions to perfection.

VARIABILITY IS KEY

The Durus 45 and Fortius 52 doors and hidden frames belong to the symbolic top of the offering in this segment. What makes the DORSIS concept exceptional?

  • Construction options - The aluminum alloy T6060 frame ensures superior stiffness and strength, while the door leaf, combining solid construction and strong cladding, is exceptionally strong and stable. The passage height can therefore be up to 3500mm, reaching the ceiling of most common interiors, with or without a transom, or a sloping top suitable for attic spaces. The Dorsis concept is universal for opening inwards and outwards and can be installed in all standard building structures.

  • Functional variants - Thanks to the door thickness of 52mm, optional accessories can be applied - drop-down thresholds, hidden automatic closers, door stops, or electric opening, for example. For premium projects, it is important that doors with hidden frames can also be installed in special variants - security Safety RC2, acoustic, or fireproof Fortius EI30. This allows not only the doors in the interior to be aesthetically aligned, but also the door spaces throughout the entire project, whether for family homes or office buildings, thus achieving maximum aesthetic effect.
  • Design variability - The quality of construction is taken for granted; from the end user's perspective, the ability to choose the design of the door leaf is often more important. The surface can be coated in any RAL and NCS shade, or the leaf can be prepared for wallpapering, painting, or cladding, allowing the door to blend perfectly with the wall. When manufacturing doors with a natural veneer surface, collaboration with furniture manufacturers is possible. Using the same veneer on the door leaf and furniture can achieve aesthetic harmony and support the minimalist character of the interior.

The ability to produce doors and frames to measure is appreciated not only by builders of family homes or apartments. An individualized approach and collaboration with architects and builders is crucial for installations in office and hotel buildings as well. Modern commercial projects particularly value aesthetic purity and minimalism, making doors with hidden frames ideal for them.

WHY IS COLLABORATION WITH ARCHITECTS AND BUILDERS NECESSARY?

"Collaboration with architects is essential for us. We do not want to manufacture prefabricated frames; our standard is a tailored solution for each project," says Jan Krejčí, managing director of DORSIS. "It's not just about the dimensions of the door opening but also the materials and surfaces used for the doors or technical elements like automatic closers or acoustic drop-down thresholds. In the long run, our collaboration with architects often inspires further development."

The Dorsis concept is designed with the installation process in mind – not only does it feature a uniquely profiled aluminum frame that simplifies assembly, but the structure is delivered pre-assembled, including protective elements. The goal is to ensure time and cost savings during installation and to prevent damage or scratching of the frames during the final construction work.

"Customers will appreciate the quality of our doors only after installation and during use. Therefore, we not only aim to produce a perfect product, but to create conditions for builders that guarantee long-term and trouble-free operation right from the installation," adds Jan Krejčí from Dorsis. "We advocate minimalism and design, but we never compromise on the demands for premium quality and craftsmanship."
