The company Hoxter, known as a manufacturer of fireplace inserts, has expanded its offer with the freestanding storage fireplace stove BLOX, which is characterized primarily by low and constant output. The company has opted for a simple and modern design.

Currently, due to the energy crisis, many stove masons are encountering requests from customers for an affordable, compact, and efficient heating source. Equally important is the quick availability and prompt implementation timeline.

"The expansion of the portfolio to include freestanding fireplace stoves is a response to the current market situation and the demands of our customers, the stove masons. The freestanding storage stoves will allow masons to meet the demand of some customers who want their heating source resolved quickly and effectively," says Michal Geisler, sales director of Hoxter.

The First Freestanding Stoves from Hoxter

Clean burning and efficient combustion of the stove – as well as a friendly appearance – is a priority for every manufacturer and user. The BLOX stoves are available in two basic models, BLOX 50 with a square footprint and BLOX R55 with a circular footprint.

The casing of the storage stoves is made of cast concrete 40 millimeters thick with an irregular light gray texture that can manage heat conduction similarly to chamotte or tiles on tiled stoves.

According to customer preference, it is also possible to choose from several variants of door handles or opt for a version made of dark chamotte instead of the standard light combustion chamber. The rear wall of the stove is equipped with an internal thermal shield, so the stove can be placed directly against a wall made of non-combustible material. An additional external rear shield will allow the stove to be placed with minimal clearance to combustible walls, for example in wooden constructions. The chimney connection is also variable, which can be installed upwards or backwards, and the external air connection can be placed at the back or downwards.

"In designing the new stoves, we also thought about the time-consuming aspects of construction. The structure of the concrete casing is made from individual concrete blocks. The craftsman does not need to glue or cut anything on-site. They simply assemble a well-thought-out 'puzzle,' and within one day, functional storage stoves stand in the living room," adds Michal Geisler.

For New and Older Homes

Despite their very compact dimensions, the total weight of the BLOX storage stoves is a respectable 428 kilograms. The storage exchanger consists of five double-walled storage rings made from material with a bulk density of 2,700 kg/m³. For effective heat storage, the flue gases are channeled in such a way as to be in direct contact with the storage mass.

"The primary advantage of storage stoves is that they accumulate thermal energy into their structure and then release it slowly into the room for hours after the fire has gone out. This results in minimal operating costs and frequency of adding wood," explains Michal Geisler.

Due to the low hourly output of the stoves (1.6 kW for 8 to 12 hours), the stoves are suitable for both new low-energy and passive buildings, as well as for older or renovated homes. The low and constant output of the stoves prevents overheating of living spaces and ensures a comfortable temperature according to user needs. The storage time of the stoves is 8 to 12 hours, which means two wood refills per day for heating the living room of a house.
