The announcement of the most beautiful interiors from the dry construction systems of Rigips took place for the seventh time as part of the national round of the Rigips Trophy 2012, which is part of the international Saint-Gobain Gyproc Trophy competition.

The expert jury awarded the projects that demonstrated quality, artistry, and the skill of the implementing companies in interior construction.
During the festive gala evening in Prague on March 22, 2012, three winning interior projects were presented, the Special Prize from the General Director was awarded, a Special Jury Prize was given, and during the evening, a vote was also held for the Audience Award.

At the ceremonial gala evening of Saint-Gobain Construction Products CZ a.s., Division Rigips on March 22, 2012, the long-secret winning projects of the Rigips Trophy competition were announced at the Illusion Palace in Prague. Jakub Železný guided the guests through an evening full of original realizations, awards presentations, and famous musical melodies performed by singer Dasha.

The competition is designed for contracting companies, and its goal is to support the art, skill, and quality of work of installers in the field of dry internal construction.
To compete for the award for the winning interior, contracting companies needed to realize and complete a project (a complete part of a structure) in the Czech Republic from October 1, 2009 – September 30, 2011, using Rigips systems while adhering to prescribed installation rules and application instructions.

In the national round of the Rigips Trophy 2012, 39 projects were registered, showcasing a diverse mixture of applications of plasterboard systems, blue acoustic plasterboard boards, flexible Glasroc F Riflex boards, Rigidur fiber cement systems, acoustic ceiling panels and Rigips ceilings, as well as Rimano plaster.

The spectrum of interiors includes projects ranging from new office spaces, hospitals, schools, hotels, to the reconstruction and renovation of historical buildings, apartment blocks, retail outlets, as well as constructions and modifications of family homes or attics.

The main criteria of the competition are the originality of the constructions, high technical quality of workmanship, the use of special techniques, and the overall aesthetic impression, not merely the size of the project.

The winning interior of the Rigips Trophy will be presented in the presence of representatives from the contracting company from June 8 to 10 at the world round in London.

The first three winning places were awarded not only a trophy but also a financial reward:
1st prize – 50,000 CZK,
2nd prize – 30,000 CZK,
3rd prize – 20,000 CZK.
All prizes will be paid out in the ratio of: 60% in the form of cash reward, 40% in the form of tools and clothing from Rigips's offerings of their choice.

1st Place
Administrative Building of AVG Technologies CZ, New Construction of Open-Space Offices and Research Center
Contractor: GipsCon s.r.o., Modřice
Architect: KYZLINK, s.r.o.
General Contractor: CTP Invest, spol. s r.o.

The timeless appearance of the new research center's interior and offices was mainly achieved by the skillful hands of the plasterboard installers, along with flexible Glasroc F Riflex boards. The concept of a relaxing interior is emphasized by rounded partition walls. The dimensioning, the installation itself, and the final surface treatment demanded focused and careful work, also due to the vibrant colors. The greatest challenge for the plasterboard masters was the construction of sound-insulating telephone booths with circular and semicircular floor plans containing two chairs that elegantly pass through the wall. These partially self-supporting structures are enclosed internally with sound-absorbing Rigiton ceilings and externally highlighted by interesting lighting ramps. The original plasterboard ceiling elements were also a test of the installers' skill.

2nd Place
Showroom of SCOTT SPORT Store in Prague 8, 1st Phase of Store Renovation – Building A
Contractor: Oldřich Dvořák – GYPS Association, Teplice
Architects: Ing. arch. Marek Deyl, M.A. arch. Jan Šesták,
Studio PHA s.r.o.
General Contractor: Bulb s.r.o.

During the renovation of the store, the contractor faced the challenging task of creating plasterboard constructions that the architects boldly designed in complex, irregular shapes with polygonal surfaces. The cladding of vertical columns was also required to look unconventional – slanted with various connections of inclined planes. It is unnecessary to emphasize that the success of such demanding constructions relied on a precise approach to the framework concerning the measurement of individual elements and their inter-connections. Special attention to aesthetics included milled grooves on the surface of the plasterboard panels. The contractor also skillfully handled the atypical design of the sales counters with a cubist appearance, which were also created from plasterboard into shapes of intersecting inclined planes.

3rd Place
Funeral Chapel in Polanka nad Odrou, Complete Interior Reconstruction of the Chapel
Contractor: Hawlik & sons, s.r.o., Ludgeřovice
Architect: RECIO – Ing. Irena Kalinová
General Contractor: Ostravské stavby, a.s.

The original design of the chapel ceased to meet aesthetic and practical requirements, leading to a comprehensive reconstruction. Undoubtedly, the most impressive part of the interior is the ceiling, where the classic vault gradually transitions into a highly challenging dome for installers. The dome was shaped from metal CD profiles to precisely transition into the vaulted part of the ceiling. A range of segments made from Rigips plasterboard combined with special flexible Glasroc F Riflex panels were used for the cladding. It goes without saying that this construction required high precision in workmanship and careful consideration of individual elements.

Special Award from the CEO

Center of Acute Medicine ON in Kladno, New Construction of a Modern Pavilion of the Regional Hospital
Contractor: Prima Kladno s.r.o., Kladno
Architect: Ing. arch. Jan Topinka, DOMY s.r.o.
General Contractor: METROSTAV, a.s., Division 1

In addition to standard plasterboard partitions, false walls, and claddings, a number of atypical and installation-intensive niche and ceiling solutions were chosen in various places of this new construction, with the entrance hall ceiling being the focal point. It consists of a combination of acoustically absorbent Rigiton panels and smooth plasterboard panels, which are not only in different height levels but also arranged in various shapes and patterns to create an interesting and purposeful overall ceiling effect. The complex ceiling over such a large area tested the skills of the contractor's employees, who had to address dozens of details regarding the suspension and atypical connections of this complicated structure.

Jury's Special Award
Attic Apartment of Mr. Hylmar in Vrchlabí, Conversion of an Attic into an Apartment
Contractor: Vladimír Dobiáš - GIPS Komplet, Poniklá
Architect: Vladimír Dobiáš - GIPS Komplet

In the new attic rooms with exposed wooden elements of the truss, plasterboard slopes with framing for new roof windows have been realized. The interior received the necessary illumination thanks to tastefully chosen arched dormers, whose complicated framing with a smaller radius tested the skills of the plasterboard installers. Plasterboard front walls along the outer walls contributed to the aesthetics while also improving the thermal properties of the original walls. The large attic space was divided with plasterboard partitions, as they are considerate of the static load of the original ceiling due to their low weight.

The award was accepted by Mr. Květoslav Škrob from GipsCon, s.r.o., from the hands of Jakub Richter, the sales and marketing director of Saint-Gobain Construction Products CZ a.s., Division Rigips.
