The composite material Twinson is appreciated by users of terraces, garden paths, fences, and other outdoor constructions for its durability, low maintenance, high longevity, and natural appearance. The material, which combines the beauty and touch of wood with the durability of plastic, is gaining increasing popularity. However, the market has been flooded with a multitude of low-quality imitations that instead of the expected properties bring increased investments and concerns with repairs.

The offer of composite materials for walking surfaces on our market is very broad. We favor quality materials with easy maintenance, attractive appearance, and high durability from proven manufacturers. Alongside premium materials like Twinson, cheaper and visibly lower-quality alternatives are increasingly offered. When constructing outdoor spaces, it is essential to carefully consider the selection of suitable composite materials. Low prices are invariably a warning sign of insufficient quality parameters of the material and impending problems. Before purchasing, always inquire about the lifespan and warranty period of the material. Deceuninck guarantees high dimensional stability and strength of the material Twinson throughout its entire lifespan, unusually long warranty of up to 25 years.

Watch the quality parameters
If you want to choose correctly, you must first look carefully and compare. Composite materials are made from wood flour, fine sawdust, or cellulose paste (which can be obtained from rice or other husks) mixed with plastic. The appropriate ratio of wood to plastic in quality composite materials is around 50% wood and 50% plastic. This exact ratio is contained in the Twinson composite material. Therefore, the terrace gives a natural impression of natural wood and evokes the touch of wood. If the content of the wooden component in the board is lower than 50%, the material will take on an unnatural "cheap" plastic appearance.

Quality has its price
The plastic component protects the construction from composite material from the degrading effects of chemically treated water, high operational loads caused by walking, and also from mold growth.
The plastic component of Twinson is made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which contributes to its excellent resistance and other remarkable functional properties. Thanks to this additive, Twinson also offers a wide range of color options. Twinson is available in eight shades, which is the widest color range on the market.
Other used polymers (PP, HDPE, etc.) are softer. Therefore, the resulting material crumbles, is less strong, and is resistant to impact or scratching.
Outdoor environments are exposed to climatic conditions and thoroughly test the material's durability after just one season. Twinson is manufactured to effortlessly withstand rain, wind, frost, sun, and abrupt temperature changes. Cheap composite materials are vulnerable due to their insufficient quality material base, thus only representing a solution for a few seasons.

Demand a certificate
Every seller of composite terraces points out the properties of the material, such as resistance to water, fire, impact, hygienic safety, eco-friendliness, and so on. However, few sellers can substantiate these claims with appropriate certification. Twinson documents all properties with acquired certifications and hygiene tests, has received several internationally recognized quality marks, is authorized to use the ecological label PEFC, and has undergone testing in Belgian laboratories for slip resistance, mechanical durability, and longevity, allowing them to provide customers with a guarantee of material properties for 25 years.

System solutions for long longevity
In the case of terraces, balconies, or façade cladding, the installation system is crucial concerning longevity. The construction from composite material will function as a compact whole only if the boards are mounted on a quality installation system that also pays attention to detail solutions. Deceuninck is among the leading innovators in this field. In addition to several options for closing the assembly from boards, Twinson O-Terrace+ also allows for comfortable installation using a tongue-and-groove system that prevents small objects from falling through. The dimensional stability of Twinson boards combined with cleverly resolved placement of expansion joints results in stability and long longevity of the construction. Cheaper materials may warp, pop out of joints, or even crack due to moisture or heat. Low-quality materials are not resistant to frost either. It can easily happen that when you step on them in winter, they may literally crack beneath your feet.

Systems made from Twinson composite material are the only ones in our market that are installed on aluminum supporting profiles. While they are somewhat more expensive than standard plastic profiles, they feature better load-bearing capacity and can therefore be installed with a spacing of up to 60 cm. They require fewer materials to create a terrace than plastic or wood support profiles, which means savings. Manufacturers who want to attract customers with low pricing offer wooden support profiles, which are least suitable for constructing terraces from composite materials. Without sufficient and time-consuming maintenance, the drawbacks of wood will manifest themselves - they will rot, deform, etc. Without ongoing care, it is possible that you will have to completely replace the wooden support profile under the composite material terrace within just five years.

Do not forget the environment
One of the most important ecological advantages of quality composite materials is their 100% recyclability, allowing the material to be reused without loss of quality. Moreover, Twinson is the only composite product on the market that has obtained internationally recognized PEFC certification. This certification guarantees that the number of harvested trees in a forest certified by PEFC does not exceed the number of trees replanted. The international non-profit organization PEFC thoroughly monitors all steps of the production process, from tree to final product. Certification is granted only to those materials that support the preservation of biodiversity. Deceuninck is proud that through the thorough attention it pays to sustainable production, all innovative products based on Twinson technology have received PEFC certification.

Deceuninck recommends the terrace Twinson O-Terrace+:
  • is created with a balanced ratio of pine wood and polymerizing PVC (50% and 50%)
  • 25-year warranty on the material
  • massive and sturdy terrace boards are suitable for use on larger areas subjected to traffic
  • eight color shades of terrace boards
  • anti-slip surface finish for use around pools and water areas
  • low maintenance with a high-pressure cleaner without oiling and impregnation
  • easy installation
  • possibility to repair a single board without complicated disassembly of the entire terrace
  • the supporting aluminum profile allows for the construction of composite material even on unpaved surfaces
