The Deceuninck company has developed a new unique material Twinson®, which combines the quality properties of wood and PVC. The material can be used for terrace projects, outdoor walkways, and outdoor cladding. The composite material Twinson® is created from the combination of pine wood and PVC polymer. Thus, it combines the best properties of both materials – thanks to PVC, it is highly durable, waterproof, resistant to rot and insects, and does not accumulate moss. The fifty percent share of wood in Twinson gives it a natural appearance.
The wide use of the material Twinson® for both outdoor and indoor applications, as well as the interesting possibilities of shaping it into various geometric forms, offer a new interesting alternative to hardwoods in project preparations. A significant advantage of the material Twinson® is its low maintenance requirements for outdoor areas, with no need for annual oiling or treatment. Due to its non-slip surface, it is also a suitable cladding material for pool edges.
Project creators will surely appreciate the color palette in which the material is offered. They can choose from almond beige, olive green, apricot brown, hazel brown, bark brown, turf brown, licorice black, and stone gray. Thus, everyone can select a suitable shade that perfectly matches the surrounding environment. From an ecological perspective, Twinson® is absolutely compliant, as it is one hundred percent recyclable, and the pine wood that is part of the material comes from sustainably managed forests and not from endangered rainforests, as is the case with hardwoods. Due to its quality, durability, and strength, the material Twinson® is an excellent alternative to exotic hardwoods and offers architects and designers not only creative freedom but also satisfied customers.
Technical properties of the material
The material Twinson® is distinguished by its extremely low linear expansion (0.023 mm/m.°C, according to ISO 11359-2) and limited bending (E-module: 4500-6000 N/mm² according to EN310). Terraces made from Twinson material exhibit very low water absorption (0.3-0.5 % after 24 hours according to EN317) and belong to the best service life class (class 1 according to EN350).
