Unlike facade reveal windows or small roof windows, we do not have a historical prototype for larger roof glazing that could be complemented with new parameters. Attics simply weren't used for living in the past.
Solara on guard against euro-glazing on rooftops Roof windows or roof glazing intended for historically valuable city and village houses are my passion. We have been dedicated to their production for over ten years. In recent months, we have been searching for a partner among conservationists, architects, designers, or specialized companies interested in further developing the heritage sensitivity of our roof windows and glazing or possibly introducing a new element for illuminating attics.
Solara roof window KLASIK, KLASIK Lungo, and KLASIK Rondo At the Bautec trade fair in Berlin, we presented new Czech wooden roof windows for heritage buildings in February 2012. These are replicas of the original roof hatch with thermal insulation parameters of a roof window. The basic square type Solara KLASIK is now complemented by the elongated Solara KLASIK Lungo and in the upper part, the half-round Solara KLASIK Rondo. Technically and functionally, all three types have received lightweight piston opening taken from the automotive industry and adjustable hinges for simple adjustment during installation or after-sales service. For the next season, we are also considering a tilt version with hinges at the top of the roof window.
Solara HISTORIK seeks a model of a historical studio window Unlike facade reveal windows or small roof windows like Solara KLASIK, there is no aesthetic model available for larger roof glazing that current craftsmen could take and "merely" supplement with functional and thermal insulation parameters. Attics simply weren't inhabited before, and skylights made of densely structured metal welds filled with simple glass cannot be used as a true model. Requirements from authorities often limit to "metal construction," which in reality becomes a completely modern aluminum kit. Since around 2007, we have been manufacturing and further developing a range of roof glazing Solara HISTORIK, in which we focus on the thinnest profiles possible for subdividing the glazed area and we install small opening sashes whenever possible. We would like to work with experts on heritage objects to design several basic assemblies of opening and fixed elements with appropriate aspect ratios and designs of tilt-opening sashes.
Traditional production of roof windows Solara s.r.o. is a traditional manufacturer of wooden roof windows. We enjoy the artisanal production in the setting of a medium-sized family business. And despite the direction of most of the construction sector, we see successful companies and craftsmen around us who do things tailored, from traditional authentic materials and with a personal approach in communication. Together with Bernard and others, we stand guard and create things that I believe have lasting value.
