The story of the transformation of an ugly duckling into a swan resembles the reconstruction of a neglected attic space into a pleasant and modern living area. The roofs of old houses often hide potential for comfortable attic living with an unmistakable atmosphere, where the pleasant feeling of being under the roof is enhanced by good lighting and a comfortable view. Thanks to roof windows and special roof glazing from Solara, achieving the desired effect is easy.
The story of the creation of a beautiful attic space brings a report on the installation of the sliding roof window Solara PERSPEKTIV in the center of Munich. At the beginning was a large, poorly lit attic, where the owners planning to replace the roof windows invited specialists from Solara to design functional, maximally glazed solutions for the existing space, ideally with maximum roof opening.
The standard procedure for cooperation between Solara and a customer who chooses a custom sliding roof window always begins with an on-site inspection, whether the building is in Prague or in Munich, as in this case. For careful assessment of the roof, determining what functions the user expects from the window, and proposing an optimal solution, this is essential. "The Munich sliding glazing was planned asymmetrically divided to achieve the maximum possible opening within existing limitations, the original roof windows that remained in the roof," explains the company owner Ing. Petr Formánek. "For larger glazing areas, we recommend that customers consider using insulating triple-glazing or special sun protection glazing, which, together with insulated frames and a robust window construction, ensures thermal comfort in the attic in both winter and summer," he adds. After finalizing the details of the order and selecting materials, the production of the custom roof window followed, which took about 4 weeks. The external materials for cladding come in many variants and can thereby be adapted to the original appearance of the roof or any conservation requirements.
The installation of the sliding roof window then takes only one day; due to the size of the windows, it is usually carried out with the help of a crane. For the Munich project, Solara's workers executed the installation, including cutting an opening in the roof and reinforcing the structure with beam replacement. After installation and covering the roof with tiles again, the window gives the impression that it has always been part of the roof. However, the feeling inside the apartment has changed significantly - the attic opens up to a beautiful view of the greenery of the courtyard all the way to the towers of the Frauenkirche church in the center of Munich.
A few days after the installation was completed, we received a letter from the owner that said: "Dear, I would like to sincerely thank you for the supply and installation of the sliding roof window PERSPEKTIV in our apartment. The space under it will surely become our favorite place." The positive feedback and thanks that we often receive from German customers greatly pleases us and motivates us for further good work, the results of which you can see in the rich reference photo gallery on the Solara website.
