Solara, s. r. o.

As part of the reconstruction of the neo-Renaissance chateau, the roof of the building underwent a complete renovation and was illuminated by new Solara roof windows.

The chateau, built in the mid-19th century, had been poorly maintained for a long time, and its transformation into a home for the elderly is currently nearing completion. We received an order from the investor for the supply of atypical roof windows of very unusual shapes and several types of opening. In accordance with the requirements of the heritage conservation office, a sample window was first manufactured, and after approval by a team of representatives from the client, investor, architects, and heritage conservation, the actual production began. The final external appearance was also influenced by the budget costs of the construction; savings had to be made.

Small rhombus-shaped fixed windows serve to illuminate the interior; some are connected to light tubes and distribute daylight into inaccessible rooms. Larger hexagonal roof windows look stylish, and despite their atypical shape, they can be comfortably opened by tilting. The handles, sourced from a private foundry near Prague, also blend well with the historical appearance.

Access to the roof walkways is provided by Solara SIDE roof hatches that open sideways. They serve as service exits, and for occasional use, these simple windows are very effective. From the walkways, one can enjoy a view of the entire roof of the sensitively reconstructed building and the beautiful panorama of the Art Nouveau houses of Vršovice.
We are glad that we could be part of the reconstruction of this heritage site!
