Glorgetto Giugiaro was born in Garesio as the son of a religious painter. He wanted to be a painter himself and therefore studied art. At seventeen, he was discovered by a talent scout from Fiat, and Giorgetto agreed to his offer. "Our professor at school already hinted at it when he said that artists often starve, and thus he recommended that I use my drawing talent in more secure disciplines", recalls Giugiaro. In 1959, he joined the renowned design company Carrozzeria Bertone. In February 1967, he founded his own company Ital Styling, which soon became known as Ital Design.
