Increasingly extreme weather situations require more complex drainage methods.
The company ACO develops system solutions that work both ways: protecting people from water – and vice versa. Each ACO product ensures a pathway for water within the entire system chain, aimed at its meaningful ecological and economic processing.
ACO Stormbrixx fits into the system chain where every drop is managed from its impact through its processing to its eventual release back into the environment.

Support for groundwater creation using the ACO Stormbrixx system
The ACO Stormbrixx retention and infiltration system supports the natural water cycle by retaining previously collected rainwater on impermeable surfaces and draining it in a controlled manner. When used as infiltration, it gradually directs rainwater into the ground. This supports the formation of groundwater and helps relieve the sewage system.
The ACO Stormbrixx system supports groundwater creation.
Another aspect is decentralized flood protection, which is supported by temporary collection and controlled drainage of rainwater. Fees for rainwater drainage, which are collected by law in almost all regions, are eliminated because rainwater remains on the property thanks to the ACO Stormbrixx system.
ACO Stormbrixx is a modular system that is used on one hand as an infiltration system and on the other hand can also be used as a retention tank. The foundation of the system consists of individual elements sized 1200 x 600 x 342 mm, which are laid in bundles using an intelligent "click" system, thereby creating structural strength for the entire system.
Configuration of the ACO Stormbrixx system The basic elements consist of eight columns, four of which are equipped with pins and four with grooves. Assembly occurs simply by snapping the individual parts together. Side walls are then attached to the outer edge of the system and the tops are filled with covers for the column openings. This creates a mutually connected complete system.
After assembling the basic elements, the supporting columns of the system are positioned directly above each other, allowing the load to be evenly distributed from top to bottom. The load capacity of the individual columns of the basic elements allows for extreme loading of the system according to SLW 60 (up to 100 kN/m2). The installation of individual parts in bundles is thus one of the essential characteristics and advantages of the ACO Stormbrixx product, as it allows for stable assembly of the entire structure without the use of connectors within a single layer.

Inspection and maintenance Another advantage is the unlimited inspection and maintenance of the entire system, achieved due to its openness and accessibility.

Logistics Due to the stackability of the basic elements, ACO Stormbrixx reduces transportation costs compared to conventional systems, thus also lowering CO2 consumption. The need for space in storage and on construction sites is also reduced by more than half. In the next article, we will present the use of ACO Stormbrixx as a retention and infiltration system, and in the image gallery, you will be able to view photographs from actual installations.
