This time on Friday, December 5, 2014, at 6:30 PM in Jablonec, we will welcome architectural historian, curator, and editor Rostislav Koryčánek, who will speak not only about The Brno Architectural Manual.
Mgr. Rostislav Koryčánek (*1972) after studying at the Secondary Agricultural School in Uherské Hradiště enrolled in the seminar of Art History at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in Brno (Mgr. 2000). From 1996 to 2001, he studied sociology at the Faculty of Social Studies at MU, graduating with a thesis on the topic "The City as an Ideal Landscape of Nationalism". From 2001 to 2002, he attended the doctoral program in the Art History seminar at FF MU in Brno. He founded the architectural magazine Era 21 (2001) within the ERA publishing house in Brno, where he was the editor-in-chief for five years. His interest in architecture is also reflected in organizing and moderating "Round Tables on Architecture" (Architectural Education, Architecture and Media, etc.) or organizing a festival of architectural films in Switzerland with the support of the Pro Helvetia foundation. He received the Raymond Rehnicer award for the best critical text in the field of architecture. Between 2007 and 2012, he served as the director of the House of Art of the City of Brno. After his tenure, he remained as the project manager of "The Brno Architectural Path". Since 2011, he has been a member of the scientific board of FaVU VUT in Brno and is the curator of several exhibition projects dealing with architecture. The lecture will primarily focus on the project of The Brno Architectural Manual, a guide to architecture from 1918-45.
