Matteo Ghidoni is an architect, editor, and publisher based in Milan. He obtained his master's degree in architecture from the IUAV Faculty of Architecture in Venice in 2002.
From 2002 to 2006, he was a founding partner of the research agency Multiplicity. His work with Multiplicity has been exhibited at Kunstwerke in Berlin (2003), the Venice Biennale (2003), Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris (2003), ZKM in Karlsruhe (2004), and the Beijing Biennale (2004).
In 2006, Matteo founded the architectural studio Salottobuono, which created the editorial section “Instructions and Manuals” for the magazine Abitare (2007-10) and served as creative director for Domus magazine (2011, 2012). The office participated in the Venice Biennale (2008, 2012, 2014) and designed the Italian Pavilion in 2010.
Salottobuono published the “Decolonization Manual” (2010) and “Basic Laws” (2016). Matteo Ghidoni has been a visiting professor at the Istituto Universitario d'Architettura di Venezia at the Faculty of Architecture, Politecnico in Milan, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, and the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota (Colombia). Matteo Ghidoni has lectured at several schools and institutions, including the Berlage Institute, Berkeley, and Columbia University.
Recent projects he has designed and built include the winning design for a temporary restaurant for the 25th Biennale Interieur in Kortrijk, Belgium (2016), a pavilion for the Mèxtropoli festival in Mexico City (2017), the e-flux pavilion for Milano ArchWeek (2018), a new urban center in Milan held at the Triennale palazzo dell'Arte (2019), and a new addition to the Ca' Noghera casino in Venice (2020).
Since 2010, Matteo Ghidoni has been a co-founder and editor-in-chief of San Rocco, an independent international publication on architecture. The editors of San Rocco – www.sanrocco.info/magazine – received the 2012 Icon Award for best practice in architecture. In 2013, the magazine also received a grant for organizations from the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts.

BKPŠ | Pavol Paňák
Before the lecture by Matteo Ghidoni, we are preparing another lecture from the :references cycle, where invited local architects will present their unique understanding of everything that inspires and guides them in the creative process. This time, we invited an architect whose lectures are always full of reference content that is well-known to us. Architect Pavol Paňák will present his understanding of the diversity of layers of inspiration in architecture and what the level of references means.
Pavol Paňák is among the most significant representatives of contemporary Slovak architecture. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at the Slovak University of Technology (today STU). He forms a significant authorship duo with M. Kusý. Together, they are behind several key buildings of today, such as the new building of the Slovak National Theatre or the headquarters of the National Bank of Slovakia in Bratislava – today one of the landmarks of the capital. P. Paňák, along with M. Kusý, has also contributed to the Gabčíkovo Waterworks and other projects that are reshaping Bratislava – the Pribinova Zone, the redevelopment of the Stationary Area in Bratislava, the renewal of the Slovak National Gallery.

SINGULARCH is a series of lectures in the field of architecture and urbanism, extending into interdisciplinary spheres. The goal of the project is to bring closer the issues of shaping our environment, not only from an architectural and urban perspective but also psychologically and sociologically. The main intention of SINGULARCH is to contribute proven and effective practices from the world and to present unique projects directly from their creators. The format of lectures and discussions is meant to benefit the professional public and architecture students, providing education for everyone and serving as a first step towards a certain change and raising interest in happenings in our area. Since 2012, architects such as Ronald Rietveld (Rietveld Landscape, Amsterdam), Kersten Geers (OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen, Brussels), RAUM (Nanttes), FALA (Porto), Bureau B+B (Amsterdam), FAKT (Berlin), RAAMWERK (Brussels), CIRCOLO-A (Genoa), TAB (Vienna), Toni Gironés Saderra (Barcelona), ORA (Znojmo), KOSMOS (Moscow), Langarita–Navarro (Madrid), ov–a (Prague), Paradigma Ariadné (Budapest), Atelier Fanelsa (Berlin), Malý Chmel (České Budějovice), Opposite Office (Munich), Point Supreme (Athens), FALSE MIRROR OFFICE (Genoa), and HYPERSPANDREL (Seoul) have presented.
