For the seventh time, the finalists of the prestigious Jindřich Chalupecký Award, awarded to Czech artists under the age of 35, will present themselves through short presentations at AVU. Come on the eve of the announcement of the winner to learn more about the finalists themselves and their works displayed in the Veletržní Palace.

STANISLAV KOLÍBAL
WORK AS AN EXPRESSION OF LIVED LIFE
On orientation in individual periods and their connections. A lecture by prof. Stanislav Kolíbal, a former educator at AVU and one of the most important Czech sculptors of the 20th century, on the starting points of his own work.
The lecture will introduce the 5th Annual Conference of VVP AVU Theater, Theatricality, Contemporary Art, which will take place on December 4.

TOMÁŠ POSPISZYL
1+1=3. COMPOSITIONAL PRINCIPLES AND IMAGE MONTAGE IN THE EARLY COLLAGES OF JIŘÍ KOLÁŘ
The collages of Jiří Kolář created before 1953 represent an extensive, yet little-explored whole. The lecture will attempt to present, characterize, and relate this material to a broader artistic context. Kolář's early work visually resembles not only contemporary European collage but also connects with the film and literary production of international modernism.
The lecture, taking place in the year marking 100 years since Jiří Kolář's birth, will also introduce Tomáš Pospiszył's new book Associative Art History. Post-war Art Across Generations and Media (collage, intermedia and conceptual art, performance, and film), transit, Prague 2014.
