Lectures

Petr Všetečka

The Ostrava Antiquarian Bookshop and Club Fiducia, in cooperation with architectural historian Martin Strakoš, invite you to a lecture:

March 14, 2013, at 6:00 PM, lecture by architect Petr Všetečka: Talks About Emptiness

The lecture will cover current projects of the Brno studio Transat architekti and their extensive concepts. There will also be a discussion about the changing role of the architect at the beginning of the 21st century, architectural competitions, and the preservation of historical monuments.

Petr Všetečka (1968, Brno) graduated in 1991 from the Faculty of Architecture at VUT Brno. Since 1997, he has led the studio Transat architekti, collaborating with Robert Václavík, Alena Všetečková, Karel Menšík, and Markéta Čermáková. Together with them, he is the author and co-author of restoration and renovation projects, including the Jurkovič Villa in Brno, the Minaret in Lednice, the Baťa Skyscraper in Zlín (with Ivan Bergmann, Ladislav Pastrnek, and others), the Květná and Podzámecká Gardens in Kroměříž (with Architects D.R.N.H.), as well as projects for new buildings and interior modifications.
In collaboration with the Zlín Region, he developed a concept for the placement of the regional library, gallery, and museum into unused factory buildings (14|15 Baťa Institute), for which he organized a public architectural competition in 2009 (the winning design by the studio A.D.N.S. is currently under construction) and designed permanent exhibitions. Together with the city of Zlín, he prepared a concept for the restoration of the Tomáš Baťa Memorial. In Prague, he is the author of the modifications to the National Monument at Vítkov - the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the reconstruction of the mausoleum, and the permanent exhibition. He conducted architectural-historical surveys for the main building of the National Museum and other facilities. In addition to projects, he is engaged in publishing and promoting architecture (3 villas by architect Zdeněk Plesník: Zikmundova, Hanzelkova, Liškova; Modern Architecture of Moravia and Silesia; Methodology for the Restoration of Window Glazing and Shopfronts for NPÚ; Annual Czech Architecture 2010-2011, etc.). He has received several awards and prizes in public architectural and artistic competitions. The works of the Transat architekti studio have won awards and honorable mentions in the Grand Prix of the Association of Architects competitions (2005, 2011, 2012) and an honorable mention in the Europa Nostra Awards (2012).
