Factory and Loft – Anachronism and Progress
The conversion of defunct, yet no longer utilized textile factories continues to captivate Czech and foreign architects, urban planners, engineers, sociologists, and heritage experts. The issue of so-called brownfields is not only reflected in the scale of a single building, but often encompasses entire extensive areas. Designing housing in former production facilities means maintaining a balance between history and today, with the phenomenon of "loft" playing a significant role as a specific form of housing. What can qualify as a loft and how are lofts actually categorized? A recently developed scientific model H-M-S will help us gain an understanding.

Is it a full-fledged "art" discipline, a marginal affair, or an opulently served sensation?
