Online lecture by Anupama Kundoo and Eike Roswag

At the last spring lecture of the KRUH association, internationally acclaimed Indian architect Anupama Kundoo accepted the invitation and will be joined by German architect Eike Roswag-Klinge as a guest. Anupama Kundoo's buildings and projects are sensitive to the environment while also providing socio-economic benefits. The research of architect Eike Roswag-Klinge focuses on climate and culturally adaptive architecture, emphasizing low-tech building systems. Together, the guests will discuss the transformation of material perception in the time of climate change.

Anupama Kundoo graduated from the University of Mumbai in 1989 and obtained her doctoral degree from TU Berlin in 2008. Her research-oriented practice creates people-centered architecture based on spatial and material research with a low environmental impact while being socially and economically beneficial. Her work is currently on display in a solo exhibition titled “Taking Time” at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark. She has taught architecture and urban management at various international universities and has strengthened her expertise in rapid urbanization and climate development. In the spring of 2020, she was a visiting professor at Yale University. She currently serves as a professor at the University of Potsdam's School of Architecture in Germany.

Eike Roswag-Klinge is one of the initiators and directors of ZRS Architekten Ingenieure Berlin, founded in 2003. He has been the chairman of the Natural Building Lab at Technische Universität Berlin since 2017. For over 20 years, he has been researching the adaptability of architecture in various climatic zones, which forms the basis for his teaching, design, and construction projects. His projects demonstrate great diversity, ranging from clay and bamboo schools in the south, rehabilitation heritage projects in the Middle East and Europe, to wooden, earthen, and natural fiber housing, production buildings, and schools in Europe. His research focuses on climate and culturally adaptive architecture with a particular emphasis on low-tech building systems. The projects he has worked on have received the Aga Khan Award 2007, KAIROS Europäischer Kulturpreis 2015, Holcim Award 2011, Gold in Asia Pacific, among others.
The lecture will take place on Thursday, June 3, at 7:30 PM at the Center for Architecture and Urban Planning - CAMP. The capacity of the hall is 50 people. To participate in the lecture, one must present a negative antigen test or proof of vaccination, or alternatively, a declaration of regular company testing or confirmation from a general practitioner of having had covid in the past month; it is also mandatory to wear a respirator in the hall.
