We would like to invite you to a new series of lectures on contemporary Nordic architecture. In 2020, we have prepared a total of 7 lecture evenings for you, featuring architects from Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark. The Nordic countries are pioneers in sustainable architecture. The use of local resources, natural materials, and the courage to experiment connect architects from these countries, who will come to Prague to give lectures this spring.
Norwegian tourist routes combine dramatic landscapes and contemporary architecture and have become a sought-after destination not only for architecture enthusiasts. Over the past twenty years, more than 200 architectural projects have been created across the country, aimed at supporting regional development and highlighting overlooked and remote places in Norway. The project is constantly evolving and combines protected areas with quality architecture. The whole project was initiated by Professor Karl Otto Ellefsen, who will come at our invitation to lecture on Thursday, March 5, 2020, in Prague.
An example of such an architectural intervention in the landscape is the Troll's Pathviewing trail by the renowned studio Reiulf Ramstad Architects. The dramatic viewpoint was complemented by a radical contemporary landscape solution that has become a popular tourist destination. The studio accepted our invitation and will present in Prague in April, and in May, the Israeli-Norwegian studio HZA, which is also involved in the national tourist routes project with its rest area and public toilets, will come. All these projects will also be presented by Karl Otto Ellefsen, a prominent figure in the field of architectural education, who served as rector at the University of Oslo and taught in London, among others. He was the president of the European Association for Architectural Education. In 2017, he was the curator of the Triennale in Oslo.
The KRUH association celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2020. In addition to regular lecture evenings with foreign architects, it also hosts the Architecture Day and Film and Architecture festivals. “I find it almost unbelievable that we have been active for 20 years and that Architecture Day has such enormous success across the entire country. We have plenty of ideas for the future on how to expand our activities, and you can look forward to some of them this year. But the main thing remains - to help spread awareness of contemporary quality architecture,” concludes Marcela Steinbachová.
