The Civic Association Kruh concluded its year-long cycle of Swiss-Czech inspiration for the public in December, showcasing the best from the prestigious Swiss university, the Faculty of Architecture at ETH Zurich. Throughout the year, architects, engineers, and theorists from Zurich's ETH presented to the Czech audience, while Swiss audiences were introduced to Czech professionals. The project will continue in the spring of 2015 with two workshops for Czech students led by Swiss experts on current topics in Prague and a trip to Switzerland, aimed at architecture students, educators, and journalists from the Czech Republic.

On the first Thursday of December, the last lecture on the topic of city and landscape took place at the Světozor cinema in Prague. The first speaker was architect and urbanist Vesna Jovanović, who works at Studio Basel, the Basel branch of ETH. She primarily spoke about the international projects she is involved with through the school, particularly the laborious reclamation of landscapes devastated by mining in many regions of South America.

The second speaker was architect Martino Tattara, working in Brussels. He provided a closer look at the activities of Studio Basel. He reminded the audience of the manifesto Achtung: Die Schweiz, published in 1955 by Max Frisch, Lucius Burckhardt, and Markus Kutter. In it, they warned against the uncontrolled emergence of so-called urban mash, the unattractive development of suburbs. Martino Tattara tried to highlight the fact that even today, almost sixty years later, this problem remains relevant and showed how the landscape can be perceived differently.

Attendance at the lecture: approximately 300 (180 students, 70 members of the public, 50 professionals - architects, representatives of IPR, etc.)

On Friday, December 5th, a working group meeting on the topic of City and Landscape, visions and plans took place at the Czech Chamber of Architects with invited guests and Czech experts. In addition to both Swiss guests, representatives from the local architectural, urban planning, and political scene also attended: architect Pavla Melková (Institute of Planning and Development of the Capital City of Prague), architecture critic Adam Gebrian, newly elected mayor Jan Čižinský, Vít Masare, and Filip Landa. Vesna Jovanović presented additional projects she is working on (such as the construction of a new twenty-kilometer tram line in Casablanca), and discussions were held on the possibility of addressing urban complexes in Prague. The speakers also visited the exhibition Prague: Planning and Development of the Metropolis in the 21st Century, on display in the Architects' Hall at the Old Town Hall.
