Zlín - The leadership of the Zlín city hall will start the first phase of the renovation of the monument-protected building of the municipal baths this year. For 826,000 crowns, it will reconstruct the entrance part of the 25-meter swimming pool. The city aims to obtain half of the funds from the Ministry of Culture’s regeneration program for urban heritage reserves. This was stated today by Mayor Irena Ondrová. The municipal baths were built and put into operation in 1952 on the site of the former brickworks of the Baťa company, designed by architect Vladimír Karfík. The building has not been significantly reconstructed since then. The mayor pointed out that the renovation of the entrance area will not limit the operation of the swimming pool. In the following years, the city hall plans to completely renovate the building. The estimated costs amount to 50 million crowns, and the city will apply for funding for the project from European funds. Given that it is a monument-protected building, no alterations to the layout or structure are planned. The repairs will primarily focus on the exterior façade and some internal elements.
