Žďár nad Sázavou

Žďár nad Sázavou - The Church of St. John of Nepomuk on Zelená Hora in Žďár nad Sázavou will shine in the dark from this summer. The city intends to invest 1.5 million crowns in the lighting of the UNESCO monument, while officials are currently refining details with heritage conservators. One ring of lights will be around the church, and another inside the cloisters surrounding the church, said the mayor of the city, Jaromír Brychta, to ČTK today. The first trial has already taken place, and trial operations will begin on the day of the celebrations marking Žďár's elevation to city status, which will be held from June 8 to 10, he added.
The modifications of Zelená Hora, where the church is managed by the state, are continuing this year into their fourth year. Last year, the city invested 3.3 million crowns in these modifications. Sidewalks, the entrance gate, and slopes have been completed. New public lighting has been installed and new furniture has been distributed. In accordance with the approved project, more than five hundred trees have been cut down on the hill. This year, the city has commissioned the preparation of a project for the regeneration of green spaces. Planting and sowing of greenery will begin next spring, the mayor reported.
Following the demanding restoration of the devastated cloisters, the restoration of the church itself continues this year into its third year. According to Karel Straka from the National Heritage Institute, the state allocated ten million crowns for this purpose this year.
