Prague - The Prague City Hall will announce a tender for approximately 78 million crowns for the modifications of Central Park in the South City, located between the C metro stations Opatov and Háje. This was decided by the councilors today. In addition to modifying paths, greenery, and amenities, the city plans to build a café, toilets, and an amphitheater in the park.
In the past, the City Hall made modifications to smaller parts of the park; the currently planned contract will address its largest section. "The central part, which makes up two-thirds of the park, has not yet undergone revitalization," said Deputy Mayor Petr Hlubuček (STAN). He added that the project is fully prepared, and after selecting a company, work can begin. According to the approved document, it should be completed in 2024.
The plan was appreciated by opposition councilors from Prague 11, such as the chairman of the ANO council club, Ondřej Prokop. Martin Sedeke (ODS), who is a Prague councilor and also the deputy mayor of Prague 11, also thanked the city leadership. He added that the municipal district is preparing modifications for parts of the park located near the exits from both metro stations. "Work is underway on both revitalizations of these areas, and they should start soon," he said.
Preparation for the park modifications began in 2006. Since then, terrain modifications have been carried out mainly in the western and eastern parts, which shaped the area, and paths with public lighting have been built.
