Králův Dvůr (Berounsko) - The castle in Králův Dvůr in the Beroun area will have another gate and a northern perimeter wall repaired. The reconstruction cost 1.2 million crowns, of which 700,000 CZK was provided to the city by the Central Bohemian Region, said Mayor Petr Vychodil (ODS) to ČTK.
The repair should be completed by the end of the summer holidays. Last year, the city had the gate from Plzeňská Street reconstructed. In recent years, about a third of the castle, the courtyard, and the castle garden have also been restored.
So far, the town has invested around 15 million in the reconstruction of the castle complex, most of the funding has been obtained from subsidies. To fully complete the repairs of the entire castle, about 50 million crowns would be needed.
The monument was owned by the Fürstenbergs until 1945 and gradually fell into disrepair. After the war, a farming school moved into the castle, which was replaced by a housing management enterprise and vegetable storage in 1971. Later, it housed a computing company.
The city has owned the castle since 2011 when it bought it from a local businessman for 13.5 million crowns. It now houses a library, a mini-nursery, and spaces are also used by seniors and a Roma association.
