Votice - Votice in the Benešov region will build a natural swimming pool on the edge of the town. It will be created by the Pilař pond and, including the construction of a parking lot, the project will cost about 30 million crowns. The town hall is now preparing a tender for the contractor, and the new swimming pool is expected to open to visitors next season, Mayor Jiří Slavík (TOP 09) said to reporters today.

The water in the reservoir is cleaned by plants and algae, and no chemical substances are added to it. The mayor pointed out that a natural swimming pool has lower operating costs and is more suitable for allergy sufferers.

According to Slavík, there will be three interconnected pools, the largest of which will be over 40 meters long and more than 20 meters wide. It will include water attractions for children. The pool will not be emptied for winter and can be used as an ice rink for skating.

Votice has not had a swimming pool for decades. They lost it due to the construction of a bypass road around the town, and a new one has not been built since. However, surveys among the public have revealed, according to Slavík, that people would like a swimming pool.

There are 4,500 people living in Votice, who have to travel far for swimming in the summer. Some council members were against the swimming pool because they believe the project is too costly. However, the majority supports it, according to Slavík. Now, according to the mayor, is the most suitable time for construction because the town is doing well economically and has saved for the swimming pool in recent years. In the previous planning period, it was possible to draw funds from the European Union for similar projects, but according to Slavík, this is no longer possible.
