Prague - At the age of 71, the scenographer, architect, and educator Miroslav Melena passed away today. His name is associated with the work and poetics of Studio Ypsilon, among others. The funeral announcement was made by his former wife Jiřina Dienstbierová.
    Melena worked in many domestic and foreign theaters. His work influenced the modern form of Prague's Theater Archa and the City Theater in Brno. According to his projects, the Theater na Fidlovačce in Prague's Nusle, the Horácké Theater in Jihlava, and the Brno Reduta were also reconstructed. His touch is evident in puppet theaters in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and Zagreb, Croatia.
    For his design for the production of The Count of Monte Cristo at the State Theater of Petr Bezruč in Ostrava, he received an international award at the Triennale in Novi Sad, Serbia.
    Miroslav Melena was born in 1937. He studied scenography at Prague's DAMU. The last farewell will take place on Thursday, August 14, at 13:15 in the Motol Ceremonial Hall.
