Šternberk - A shopping center with a hypermarket and several smaller stores is planned to be built in Šternberk in the Olomouc region by NIMIRU Development. ČTK obtained the information today from the database assessing the impact of projects on the environment EIA. The company will build the shopping complex on land in the industrial zone, which it purchased from the city for 26.5 million crowns. In Šternberk, with 15,000 inhabitants, no shopping center has been built so far. "Our company's aim is to realize the construction of a shopping center on the acquired land, along with the necessary transportation and technical infrastructure," said Petr Ošlejšek, the director of NIMIRU Development, to ČTK today. The company intends to demolish the old buildings on the purchased land by the middle of next year and simultaneously wants to obtain construction permits. "Immediately thereafter, the actual construction of the shopping center will begin so that we can welcome the first customers in the spring months of 2018," Ošlejšek stated.
Irena Černocká, spokesperson for the Šternberk city hall, told ČTK that the contract for the sale of land in the industrial zone was signed with NIMIRU Development at the end of August. The company will pay nearly 27 million crowns for parcels with a total area of 2.34 hectares for the shopping center construction. "In terms of the volume of financial resources obtained, this contract represents a record property rights contract for the city of Šternberk, which has ever been concluded in the modern history of the city. The sale was preceded by long-term preparation and complex negotiations of conditions, so that the contract could be successfully concluded," Černocká stated.
The shopping center will be built near a busy road connecting Šternberk with Olomouc. The published documentation indicates that the shopping center will consist of two large buildings with a hypermarket and smaller stores. The hypermarket is projected to have an area of 4,700 square meters and the remaining stores will account for 3,332 square meters. About seventy people are expected to work in the hypermarket, and the smaller stores should employ around fifty workers. The project includes a parking lot for 300 cars.
Currently, only standalone wholesale stores operate in Šternberk. The hypermarket in the town was built by Tesco, and supermarkets there are operated by retail chains such as Albert, Lidl, and Penny Market.
