Slaný (Kladensko) - Slaný in the Kladno region has announced a tender for the continuation of repairs in the historic center on the pedestrian zone in Husova Street, where new sidewalks, roadways, lighting, and drainage will be constructed. The costs are estimated at 36 million crowns excluding tax. The city will choose the company that will carry out the work at the end of May. This was stated today by Deputy Mayor Martin Hrabánek (ODS). It was originally expected that repairs could start as early as May. However, according to Hrabánek, the project has been slightly delayed due to deadlines in issuing the public tender, and it also had to be approved by officials from the regional operational program. Part of the investment will be covered by subsidies from European funds. "The company should be known by the end of May. If everything goes as it should, work could practically start immediately after signing the contract," said Hrabánek. Work on the pedestrian zone will be divided into several sections. Husova Street will not be completely closed to allow for deliveries to shops. The city leadership anticipates that the work will be complicated primarily by repairs to old infrastructure. The repairs on Husova Street will be completed at the edge of Masarykovo Square, where the revitalization should continue in the future. A team of architects led by Jaroslav Sýkora has been preparing the study for the revitalization of the center for several years. Experts have divided Slaný into 22 sections that will be repaired gradually. The city has already repaired Vinařická Street for 31 million crowns. In total, the revitalization from the budget and subsidies will cost 300 to 400 million crowns. No one has significantly reconstructed the streets of the historic core for a long time. According to architects, the traces of the last reconstructions are mostly rough interventions into the urban conservation area, introducing foreign materials or incompatible elements of urban furniture. Experts say that the historic center of Slaný is conceptually and stylistically unrefined, still bearing the imprint of the former traffic solution, where Masarykovo Square served as a bus station.
