Telč - In Telč in the Jihlava region, a construction company is completing the renovation of the town hall building in the historic square of Zacharias of Hradec for the city. Employees of the city office will gradually return there from March to May. The ground floor will once again house an information center, and newly, people will be able to visit the vaulted cellar of the town hall, which will display museum exhibits. This was stated by the mayor of Telč, Vladimír Brtník (ODS).
"It has been beautifully renovated, and there has also been a certain new layout arrangement," the mayor said. After the completion of the construction work, it will still be necessary to furnish the town hall. The city aims to enhance the attractiveness of the information center with the chosen furnishings. "So that it is clear that it is the Telč information center and that we are in UNESCO," said Brtník. He reminded that this year marks 30 years since the monuments of Telč were inscribed on this list of the world cultural heritage.
In the first and second floors of the main town hall building, the builders installed new electrical, heating, water, and sewage systems, and modified the cellar. The city also had the courtyard wing of the historic building with the former lockup and barn revitalized. "An interesting space has been created there, where we thought small concerts could take place, but that will certainly be shown by time," the mayor stated. There should also be a space in the town hall courtyard for bicycle storage with a charging station. The preservationists monitored the progress of the repairs of the town hall.
This project did not include the restoration of the town hall façade facing the square; according to the mayor, the city will attempt to utilize another grant program for that.
The city development and planning department will be the first to return to the renovated town hall; it will be located in the attic of the building, which was hardly affected by the current construction work. A part of the officials is temporarily using the building at number 70 in the square, which is next to the building housing the elementary art school and the municipal library. The city also intends to renovate these two buildings. The mayor stated that if everything goes well, Telč will apply for a grant for this intention later this year.
With the help of a European grant, the city of Telč has already renovated the bourgeois house in the square of Zacharias of Hradec, which houses the children and youth house. The renovations of this historic building were completed two years ago.
