Louňovice - In Louňovice, in the district of Prague-East, the construction of an elementary school for 540 children could begin next year. The municipality has no school. The project is being prepared by the voluntary association LOŠBATES, which includes the municipalities of Louňovice, Tehovec, Štíhlice, and Svojetice. It has already secured a grant, building permit, and has announced a tender for the contractor. The estimated value of the contract is 805 million CZK without VAT. Construction companies can submit bids until October 16, the media representative of the association, Jan Šimral, informed CTK today.
"The Ministry of Education has approved a grant of 504 million CZK, which has opened the way for our association to announce the competition. If the competition goes well, we would like to start construction in January 2024. The contractor will have 19 months for the construction, and the school will open to children in September 2025," said the mayor of Louňovice and chairman of the association, Josef Řehák (ind.).
The construction plans include a school building, an adjoining gymnasium with additional sports facilities, transportation access to the facility, related public infrastructure, and an access road. The construction is designed to meet passive energy standards. The architectural design emerged from an international competition announced at the end of 2017, in which 108 teams from 38 countries competed. The winning design is from the architectural studio Pelletier de Fontenay from Montreal, Canada. The school is conceived as an open cloister, with a complex ambulatory corridor connecting four parts of the school into a single volume surrounded by a small forest.
