Lázně Bělohrad – In Lázně Bělohrad in the Jičín region, construction has begun on a new town hall building and the reconstruction of the adjacent part of K. V. Raise Square. The total costs amount to 96 million crowns. CTK was informed by Mayor Pavel Šubr (STAN). The northern part of the square has so far been a uniform asphalt area with "wild" parking. After reconstruction, parking will be clearly defined, greenery will be added, and benches will be installed. Parking spaces will also be available near the new office building.

Construction work started in May, and the Liberec company Syner won the bidding for the construction. The reconstruction of the square should be completed by the end of this year, and the construction of the office should be finished by June 2022. "The new office will cost 65 million crowns, the modification of the surroundings of the office will amount to 14 million, and the reconstruction of the square will be 17 million crowns. The prices are including VAT," said Šubr.

The town with 3,700 inhabitants is financing the project from its own resources; it had about 65 million crowns for the new town hall from the sale of various properties and lands. It plans to take out a loan of 50 million crowns.

The town hall building will be one-story, three-story, rectangular in plan with a flat roof. The central space of the first floor will be a hallway, which will lead to a space with stairs and an elevator. There will also be a multipurpose hall with facilities, as city representatives stated. On the second and third floors, there will be offices, and in the central part of the building, there will be an atrium topped with a skylight. Behind the new town hall, a shelter for four vehicles and bicycle storage is planned. The project also includes eight parking spaces, sidewalks, and an area for various events on the plots near the new town hall.

"This week, the foundation slab of the new building will be poured. The rough construction should be completed in the autumn, so that work can continue inside during winter. The handover of the construction is expected by the end of June 2022, after which the furnishing of the building with furniture and similar items will follow. The expectation is that the office could start operating in the new space in autumn 2022," Šubr said.

The northern part of the square is currently fenced off, the asphalt has been removed, and work is starting on the engineering networks. A parking lot and a pedestrian area with a fountain and new trees will be created. The town hall's goal is to enhance the safety of pedestrians and traffic. "People are worried that there will be fewer parking spaces in the square. The total number will be roughly maintained. More spaces will be added by the office, and the number of parking spaces should be sufficient," Šubr said.

The new paved areas of the square will be made of stone paving. The design includes 17 perpendicular parking spaces and a parking bay for five vehicles. Opposite the new parking bay, three parallel parking spaces will remain. "The square should be completed by the end of the year; we will strive for early use from the spring," Šubr stated.

The town hall is considering what to do with the current office building in the central part of the square. Part of the council is in favor of selling the building. The reconstruction of the northern part of the square along with the construction of the new town hall, costing almost 100 million crowns, is the largest investment in the town in the last ten years.
