Lázně Bělohrad – The construction of a new town hall in the center of Lázně Bělohrad in the Jičín region is at the rough construction stage, with the reconstruction of the adjacent part of K. V. Raise Square nearing completion. The reconstruction of the square is expected to finish by the end of this year, and the construction of the office is set for completion by June 2022, said Mayor Pavel Šubr to ČTK. Construction work started in May, and Liberec-based company Syner won the bid for both projects.
"It is proceeding roughly according to plan, despite problems with material deliveries. Regarding the town hall building, the company will now begin insulation and façade work. They want to have the construction completed as soon as possible so they can start with the interior installations," Šubr told ČTK.
The new office will cost 65 million crowns, the alterations surrounding the office will amount to 14 million, and the reconstruction of the square will be about 17 million crowns. "The new town hall will be finished in June 2022, after which the furnishing of the building with furniture and similar items will begin. We would like the office to start moving into the new premises by September 2022," Šubr told ČTK.
The municipal office building will be unbasement, three stories high, with a rectangular floor plan and a flat roof. The central space of the first above-ground floor will be a hall, leading to an area with a staircase and an elevator. There will also be a multipurpose hall with facilities. The second and third above-ground floors will house offices, and the central part of the building will feature an atrium topped with a roof skylight. Behind the new town hall, there are plans for a shelter for four vehicles and a bicycle storage area. The project also includes eight parking spaces, sidewalks, and an area for various events on the land near the new municipal office building.
The northern part of the square prior to the start of reconstruction consisted of a uniform asphalt surface with "wild" parking. After the reconstruction, parking will be clearly defined, and there will be more greenery and benches. The town hall's goal is to increase pedestrian and traffic safety.
"We would like to have the square completed by the end of the year. The installation of the fountain, which is also planned, will take place in May next year, just before the completion of the entire complex, to avoid potential damage to the fountain," Šubr told ČTK.
In the square area, a parking lot and a pedestrian area with a fountain and new trees will be created. The new paved surfaces of the square will be made of stone cobblestones. According to the town hall leadership, the total number of parking spaces will roughly be maintained. There will also be additional spaces by the office. The number of parking spots should be sufficient, said Šubr.
The town, with a population of 3,700, is financing the project from its own resources, having around 65 million crowns for the new town hall from the sale of various properties and land. It plans to take out a loan of 50 million crowns.
