Kuřim (Brno Region) - In the town of Kuřim, with a population of ten thousand, there could be up to 2000 new apartments built within the next fifteen years. Drago Sukalovský, spokesperson for the city hall, said this today to ČTK. Construction has been underway in the city for several years, and in the last five years, about 2000 residents have moved in. Plans from developers and the city hall could attract another thousands to the north of Brno. According to experts, interest in the apartments will mainly come from people in the regional metropolis. The city recently surpassed the ten thousand permanent resident mark after years of efforts, allowing it to receive more tax revenues. According to the spokesperson, the city hall does not have another target population number. Nevertheless, it expects that due to new construction, around 5000 more people could arrive. The urban plan anticipates extensive residential construction in the Záhoří area. The first 500 housing units are expected to begin construction in the coming months. The city is also planning more, but it will mainly depend on the interest of developers and the approval of a new urban plan, noted Sukalovský. Since 2005, around 800 new apartments have been built in Kuřim. According to real estate agent Marcel Prát from ACROSS REALITY, additional hundreds will easily fill as well. "If we can get past the current fears regarding the global crisis, it won't be a problem," he believes. The interest in apartments in these areas mainly comes from Brno residents who want to live in nature while being close to a large city, added Prát.
