Kralupy nad Vltavou - In Kralupy nad Vltavou in the Mělník region, work on the next phase of the revitalization of the center has been completed, which concerned another part of Palackého Square. The final stage of the modifications, which will include Jungmannova and Husova streets, should be completed in two years, said Mayor Marek Czechmann (for STAN) at today's ceremonial opening.
The revitalization of the center began in 2016, three years after the construction of a new municipal office building was completed in the square. Gradually, the area around the church, the town hall, and the former brewery has been completely modernized. The former Hotel Praha was demolished, a new street was created, and untapped municipal land was developed. "We have divided it into about seven properties and would like to sell the land," Czechmann added. According to him, the city will provide investors with conditions for the use of the buildings, the appearance of the facades, and so on.
New areas have been added to the center with new granite paving, lighting, and other features, such as flower pots, in which trees will still be planted; during heatwaves, the misting systems will help improve the air in the city. Parking spaces have also been added. A special feature is the depiction of a section of the former mill race using stone slabs from the former brewery's fermentation cellar.
The costs, similar to the previous two phases, reached around 20 million crowns; the investment always includes the renewal of utilities that run under the renewed areas.
The start of the final stage depends on the planned modernization of the railway line that runs parallel to Jungmannova and Husova streets. The city wants to start work only after the railway works are completed. A pedestrian zone is to be created, parking spaces will be added, and barrier-free access will be ensured. The underpass in Jirásková Street also needs reconstruction, but the city must resolve the exchange of land.
Near Palackého Square is also the building of the former brewery malt house, where a cultural center is planned to be created. The spaces will serve the basic artistic school, the library, and the children's and youth house. The building belongs to the city; a tender for a designer for the renovation of the building is currently being announced. According to the mayor, the city has been saving for the investment for a long time. The estimated costs will reach around 300 million crowns, and construction could ideally begin in about two years.
