In Jihlava, the new arena will be managed by the municipal company, decided the councilors

Jihlava – A new Horácká multifunctional arena (HMA) will be operated by a company fully owned by the city after its completion, at a cost of 1.9 billion crowns. The founding document of the new company was approved today by the city council. At the same time, it decided on a contribution of 20 million crowns to the new company's equity capital.

Today, 29 councilors voted in favor of establishing the company. Two votes were against, and no one abstained.

Opposition councilor Radek Hošek (Mayors and Independents) stated before the vote that he would not support the formation of the company. "I believe that the city cannot and should not be in business. From my perspective, it would be a more reasonable option to lease the operation," he said.

According to Mayor Petr Ryška (ODS), the city-owned company should have, among other things, easier access to subsidies.

Hošek also expressed support for the new company's managing director, Martin Lindovský, stating that he heard good references about him. Other councilors also praised the choice of the managing director.

The managing director of Horácká multifunctional arena, s.r.o, will be Martin Lindovský from Ostrava, whose selection was confirmed by the city council in January. The selection process for the new managerial position began last September, with nine candidates applying. In the same month, the Jihlava council approved the plan to establish the company that will take care of the arena. According to the document approved today, this company will be primarily responsible for ensuring the economical, stable, and sustainable operation of the arena.

A new hall is being built in Jihlava since last year by the company GEMO on the site of the old ice rink, and it is expected to be completed by the autumn of 2025. The arena will host not only sports events but also cultural and social activities, and will also provide accommodation and catering services.

The Vysočina Region will contribute half a billion crowns to the multi-purpose arena in the regional capital Jihlava, and the National Sports Agency (NSA) will provide 300 million crowns. The remaining costs will be covered by Jihlava from its own resources and through loans.
