Dobříš - In Dobříš in the Příbram region, the reconstruction of Komenského Square has begun. A quiet area for gatherings, markets, and cultural events will be created on the current parking lot. The work will cost 34 million korunas and, according to the original plans, is expected to be completed by autumn. However, it will depend on the condition of the networks that workers are currently uncovering. A more realistic completion date is by winter, said Mayor Pavel Svoboda (For Dobříš).

The square will have a new surface and greenery, and the memorial to the victims of the First World War, which used to be there, will be returned. The renovations will also include the installation of new lighting and the construction of utilities for regional markets and concerts. "It starts with removing the surfaces because there was a combination of some paving, asphalt, clay in some places, and trees. The trees have already been cut down and now excavation is going deeper," said Svoboda.

Komenského Square has been one of the busiest places in Dobříš, but that should be a thing of the past. "It should be a quiet place, so there will be a fountain with a corner where mothers with children could sit, for example. Since it is in the middle of the city, we want to use it for all possible cultural events, for the markets that we hold here. It should really be the heart of the city," added the mayor.
