In Česká Lípa, they are preparing a reconstruction of the entrance to the Crystal Cultural House

Česká Lípa - The reconstruction of the entrance to the Crystal Cultural House is being prepared in Česká Lípa. The work must be completed before the closure of the Jirásek Theatre, which is awaiting extensive renovation. The city council has commissioned a project to a team of architects led by Jiří Suchomel, who was also at the head of the team that designed the modern building years ago. The spokesperson for the city office Kristýna Kňákal Brožová informed ČTK about this today.

The project for the modernization of the entrance to the nearly 30-year-old multifunctional building is supposed to be ready according to the spokesperson at the beginning of next year. Along with Suchomel, Jiří Janďourek and Jana Medlíková will also work on it, making it the same team that prepared the architectural study for the overall renovation of the building last year. The modernization of the entrance is estimated to cost around ten million crowns. Crystal will have new entrance doors, the foyer, the ticket office, and restrooms, including the utility systems on the ground floor of the cultural house, as well as the area in front of the entrance, will also be renovated.

The multifunctional Crystal building complements and closes the garden of the Česká Lípa museum. It is embedded in the terrain, and the sloping southern facade acts as an air collector of solar energy; partial embedding into the ground, good thermal insulation, and the possibility of heat accumulation in the substrate of the building create an overall concept of energy efficiency. The project began in 1975, and the cultural house was opened only in December 1990. In addition to two main halls and a foyer, the building houses a cinema, restaurant, ballet hall, and gallery.

"The reconstruction of the entrance will undoubtedly influence the overall appearance of the building, and it is also necessary for it to take place in accordance with the architectural study. That is why we approached this team of architects to prepare the project documentation. The architects agreed and, moreover, will prepare the documentation in a short timeframe and at a price that corresponds to the usual cost," said mayor Jitka Volfová. According to her, the entrance already urgently needs renovation. "In addition to the entire entrance space being in poor technical condition, it does not create a good impression on visitors either. But that should hopefully change soon," the mayor added.
